DUO VOICE & LUTE
Joana Guiné and Punto Bawono premiered their first program in 2024. Entitled "The Journey of Maria de' Medici," it explores the curious and tumultuous journey of Maria de Medici, an Italian noblewoman who married Henry IV, King of France, in the year 1600. Her life, entangled in the power games of the richest families of Europe, was also surrounded by music, poetry, and other arts, and she herself was a singer and lute player. In this program, Joana Guiné traced some of the music that she might have heard or even played, both in her Italian and French courts.

As is characteristic of Joana Guiné, with this duo she aims to bring forth lesser-known repertoire, specifically for voice and lute. By combining famous works of the repertoire with lesser-known but equally significant compositions of the era, she aims to expand the music that reaches today's audiences.
